EU Tech Sovereignty Package: What it means for the European industry?

Novinka

The European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), on behalf of the European Commission, is organising the first EU Industry Talk "EU Tech Sovereignty Package: What it means for the European industry” on 24 June 2026, from 08:30 to 10:00 CEST.

What does the EU Tech Sovereignty Package mean for European industry in practice?

How could new initiatives on semiconductors, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and open-source technologies affect companies’ technology choices, investment decisions, and competitive positioning?

European industry is increasingly dependent on a limited number of global providers for critical digital technologies, including cloud infrastructure, AI systems, semiconductors, and data services. At the same time, geopolitical developments, supply chain disruptions, and intensifying global competition over strategic technologies are reshaping how companies think about technological dependencies, resilience, and long-term investment decisions. In this context, the EU Tech Sovereignty Package aims to strengthen Europe’s capacity in critical technologies and reduce strategic dependencies across key digital value chains.

Against this background, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), on behalf of the European Commission, is organising the first EU Industry Talk "EU Tech Sovereignty Package: What it means for the European industry” on 24 June 2026, from 08:30 to 10:00 CEST. The session will explore the practical implications of the EU Tech Sovereignty Package for European businesses, with a particular focus on companies operating in digital and technology-intensive sectors.

The discussion will examine how the package may affect decisions related to technology sourcing, investment priorities, and participation in strategic value chains. It will also explore how companies can adapt to evolving expectations around technological sovereignty, including potential implications for cloud and AI providers, digital infrastructure, and emerging European technology ecosystems.

This event is part of the EU Industry Talks, a new series of webinars organised by the ECCP to engage a broader audience beyond the cluster community on cross-cutting EU industrial topics. The series brings together business leaders, policymakers, industrial associations, investors, research and innovation organisations, and other ecosystem stakeholders to exchange views and insights on key industrial issues.
