Bioeconomic Atlas NCA introduces clusters, companies and institutions from the NCA membership base dedicated to using renewable biological resources (RBS) for their innovative technologies and products. 

 

CzecHemp

The CzecHemp cluster was established in 2018 to strengthen cooperation between entrepreneurs, the public sector, research and educational institutions and individuals along the entire value chain of the hemp industry, from cultivation and processing to the widespread use of hemp and its products. The cluster aims to develop both technical hemp using seeds, stems, and hemp flower extracts for food and industrial applications as well as cosmetics and medical cannabis-focused on health care. The cluster is a member of the Platform for Bioeconomy and the National Cluster Association, where it offers the application of materials for innovative products and projects using local renewable resources from plant raw materials. At the international level, CzecHemp is a member of EIHA - European Industrial Hemp Association, which presents hemp as a tool for the Green Deal and lobbies for better conditions for hemp cultivation and the development of the hemp industry in the EU. 

 

Currently, the cluster has 40 members and is involved in cooperation on two European projects. Due to the basic raw material, which is hemp, the whole cluster falls under the bioeconomy. However, we are happy to introduce our advanced pioneers of the hemp bioeconomy, which are Annabis s. r. o., EcoFuel Laboratories s. r. o. and KOBE-cz s. r. o.

The Czech company Annabis has been researching, developing, manufacturing and selling hemp cosmetics and supplements since 2010. The main goal of the company is to bring to the market high-quality and unique products with the highest possible proportion of natural ingredients. ATOPICANN is an organic hemp cream with a high content of hemp oil and extract and with an original combination of active ingredients, which is produced from organic raw materials from organic agriculture. These include coconut oil, hemp oil, hemp seed extract and olive oil. The cream also contains peat extract, sea salt, zinc, colloidal silver and vitamin E. ATOPICANN softens, smoothes, and nourishes the skin to promote skin regeneration and improve the overall condition and appearance of skin prone to eczema and psoriasis. 

 

BALCANN ORGANIC HEMP OINTMENT WITH OAK BARK

BALCANN ointment with 23% hemp ingredients is suitable as supplementary care for skin prone to atopic eczema and psoriasis for children and adults. The high content of unsaturated fatty acids Omega 3-6, vitamins A, B, C and E, phytosterols, phytin and a range of minerals perfectly moisturise, regenerate and protect the skin. CANNOL BIO contains Organic Hemp Oil and Hemp Seed Extract, Organic Olive Oil, Mandarin Clementine Bark Oil, Mandarin Bark Oil, Grapefruit Bark Oil, Limonene and Linalool (part of the essential oils). 

 

EcoFuel Laboratories s. r. o.

EcoFuel Laboratories s. r. o. is a biotechnology company founded in 2009 which specializes in the research and use of microorganisms and medicinal plants for the production of natural bioactive substances. The company's activities begin with expeditions to the hard-to-reach corners of our planet, isolation of new production strains of microorganisms, research on plant stem cells, medicinal plants and procedures for their biotechnological production, and culminate in the extraction of bioactive substances. An example is the Antarctica 2022 expedition, during which micro-organisms producing UV-protective substances were isolated, a new hope for anti-age cosmetics. Highly effective natural substances (phytoceuticals) are formulated into state-of-the-art application forms such as nano micelles, liposomes, niosomes, and transferosomes, and then developed, certified and marketed as final products for the cosmetic and food industries.

EcoFuel Laboratories is one of the participants of the National Centre of Competence in Biorefining and Circular Economy for Sustainability (BIOCIRTECH), which deals with the processing of microbial, plant, animal and waste biomass, including municipal origin and sewage sludge, using chemical, biochemical and physical processes to obtain new products from renewable biological resources and their use in food, agriculture and energy. EcoFuel's key activity in this project is the cultivation of plant material, particularly from sites threatened by global climate change, and the isolation of bioactive compounds by advanced extraction chromatographic methods.

FLAVODERM CREAM - PROTECTIVE CREAM WITH CDBS AND FLAVONOIDS 

Regenerating cream with flavonoids and CBD is suitable for the treatment of venous insufficiency. It contains anti-inflammatory cannabidiol and extracts of chestnut fruit, comfrey, buckwheat husk, jojoba leaf, dandelion root, St. John's wort, burdock, meadowsweet and iris rhizome. These extracts are rich in a blend of bioflavonoids that have been shown in research to have strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity and are known for their venotonic effects on the vascular system and support of microcirculation. The product uses a form of nano-CBD called NeoMicelle Nano-CBD, which was developed as part of our pharmaceutical program. This technology allows for a significant reduction in the required dose of CBD, as the absorption of the active ingredient takes place much faster and more efficiently. 

CANNAZULENE BALM 

This ointment with cannabidiol, hemp oil, vitamin E, active ingredients isolated from chamomile: blue guaiazulene, bisabolol and blue chamomile essential oil is suitable for the treatment of skin with minor burns and scars. It helps to soothe dry and irritated skin and promotes its regeneration without causing significant scarring.

 

KOBE-cz s. r. o. 

The company KOBE-cz s.r.o. is a manufacturer of insulation with more than 20 years of tradition, and throughout its existence, it has constantly been improving its production processes for the best quality of manufactured insulation, not only from hemp fibres, which it has been fully dedicated to since 2014. It is, therefore, the longest-producing hemp insulation company in the whole Czech Republic. More than 90% of these hemp insulation panels are produced for the foreign market, which is possible thanks to the possession of ETA certification. Our company places great emphasis on the environment, with more than 40% of the energy consumed being produced by a solar power plant located on the roofs of the production halls. Furthermore, the waste from the production process is only around 1%, which is mainly made up of dust from the production process, which is further used as a solid component not only in hempcrete. Our aim is to replace non-natural materials with these high-quality, natural and easily recyclable insulation boards, thus preventing further unwanted pollution of our planet. Due to the positive properties of hemp and thermoacoustic properties comparable to other insulation materials of synthetic origin, technical hemp was an obvious choice for us as input material.

KOBE ECO HEMP FLEX

KOBE ECO HEMP FLEX is composed of 85-87% pure hemp fibre, 10-12% bicomponent binder fibre (which is up to 75% recycled) and 3-5% soda as fire protection. The bulk density of the material is 35±5 KG/M3; the thermal conductivity coefficient is 0.039 W/mK and in terms of reaction to fire, according to EN 13501-1+A1, it is CLASS D-s1, d0. The advantages of KOBE ECO HEMP FLEX include the fact that hemp fibre insulation is health-safe, highly insulating, recyclable, and naturally repels pests. Working with the insulation panels is easy and can be done by anyone. You just need to follow the basic construction procedure when using DB+ vapour barrier film. The insulation panels are permanent in the building structure and do not degrade due to the effects of time.
