VÚB a.s. – CleverTex® highly conductive elastic textile ribbons

Founding member of the cluster CLUTEX - Cluster technical textiles - VÚB a.s. Ústí nad Orlicí in the framework of a research and development project together with the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and in close cooperation with Elasta-Vestil,a.s. Krucemburk has developed and is currently marketing CleverTex® conductive elastic textile ribbons.


VÚB Co. Ústí nad Orlicí - one of the founding members of the cluster – developed highly conductive elastic textile ribbons. This product was developed within the R&D project solved in close cooperation with West Bohemia University in Pilsen and Elasta-Vestil company in Krucemburk and, at present, is being introduced to the market under the registered trademark CleverTex®.

 

Unlike standard ribbons, this new product is based upon the insertion of special CleverTex® hybrid conductive threads in warp direction into the ribbon during its production so that they create conductive paths.

 

CleverTex® conductive textile ribbons significantly facilitate the integration of electronic components into textiles while offering a wide range of applications, especially in the field of e-textiles and wearable electronics.

 

Flexible conductive ribbons can be fitted with electronic components such as LEDs, sensors or connectors by soldering, welding or crimping.

 

As part of the integration of electronics into textiles, they serve as “textile conductors” wherever a variable length of the conductive element is required without changing the eclectic resistance.

 

Moreover, CleverTex® conductive ribbons can be matched to the required parameters of e-textiles or clothing manufacturers, i.e. both electrical parameters (current carrying capacity, number of conductive elements, spacing of conductive paths, etc.), as well as textile *structure parameters can be changed.

 

A non-negligible advantage of flexible conductive ribbons can be seen in their high resistance to stress during maintenance, which allows for achieving a long service life of e-textiles.

 

The design and topology of flexible ribbons with conductive paths based upon the application of hybrid conductive threads is protected by Czech patent No. 308 614, “Conductive elastic woven ribbon.”
