The future of European competitiveness: Role of Clusters, EU Cluster Talks - 2. October 2024
The European Cluster Collaboration Platform, on behalf of the European Commission, organised the EU Clusters Talk “The future of European competitiveness: Role of Clusters ” on 2nd October, 8:30 – 9:45 CET, to examine the evolving role of clusters and explore how can be leveraged to strengthen competitiveness.
In the face of rapidly changing global markets, the need to strengthen regional and sectoral competitiveness has never been more challenging. Following the publication of Mario Draghi’s report “The Future of European Competitiveness”, key priorities such as digitalization, quantum technology, defence, and reducing critical dependence on raw materials were highlighted. These areas have been identified as essential for Europe’s ability to remain competitive on the global stage.
Clusters are uniquely positioned to foster innovation, drive economic growth, and support the development of robust ecosystems that enhance competitive advantages. By facilitating collaboration among industry players, clusters create environments conducive to increased productivity, the development of new technologies, and the acceleration of market growth.

- Marek Przeor, Team Leader – Cluster Policy, DG GROW, European Commission
