Robotic Rover for Space Missions

The UWB Robotics student team brings together students from the University of West Bohemia who share a passion for robotics and space exploration. As part of the exhibition, they will present the UWB Robotics Camelus1 robotic rover for the 2025 season.
The University of West Bohemia in Plzeň, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a member of the Klastr MECHATRONIKA, will showcase in the Technology Village the competition mobile robotic rover developed by the UWB Robotics student team for the 2025 season. The Technology Village is part of the Cluster Day in the Pilsen Region, taking place on 22 October 2025.
UWB Robotics is a student team established at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of West Bohemia. Its main vision is to bring together students interested in space exploration, promote technical education, and take part in robotic rover competitions.
Competition Robotic Rover / UWB Robotics
The exhibition showcases the competition mobile robotic rover developed by the UWB Robotics student team for the 2025 season. The team competes in “rover challenges”, competitions simulating robotic space missions.
The UWB Robotics rover is designed to navigate complex terrain using both remote and autonomous control. It is equipped with a robotic arm and a 1D manipulator for handling various payloads and interacting with the environment.
To support scientific missions, the rover features a soil sampling and storage system, as well as a range of sensors for measuring environmental parameters.
In addition to the main exhibit — the rover itself — the exhibition also presents other activities of the UWB Robotics team, aimed at offering students valuable hands-on experience beyond standard studies.
Membership in the Klastr MECHATRONIKA
The University of West Bohemia in Plzeň, particularly the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, represents a key partner of the UWB Robotics student team. The support provided to the team includes access to facilities, machinery (especially MJF printing), materials, and financial resources.
The know-how gained during the construction of the rover is immediately integrated into the teaching of specialised courses at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, particularly in Fundamentals of Robotics and Mechatronics in Machine Design.
