How to popularise membrane processes?

Novinka

The Czech Membrane Platform brings together experts and major institutions focused on research, development, innovation and application of membrane processes in a wide spectrum of technological and manufacturing sectors.

The main activity of the platform is the promotion and popularisation of membrane processes, education of uninitiated and expert publicity, and publishing of specialist publications and studies. Organising seminars, workshops, and national and international conferences is an important part of their activities. Events are focused on industries that use membrane processes or their use is promising in the future.

Conference MEMPUR 2021

After 18 months, we were finally able to organise a face-to-face event. We are delighted that it could be the third year of the conference MEMPUR – membrane processes for sustainable development. The conference took place on the 6th-7th of September 2021 at the Chemical-Technological faculty, University of Pardubice. Creating an environment for mutual connection of the academic sphere with industry is one of the main conference purposes. Therefore, it is an opportunity for managers and entrepreneurs to find between young scientists and research workers their new co-workers.

In this year´s conference, the conference expanded its field of interest from basic membrane separation processes and their application in industrial processes to the whole area of industrial and municipal ecology by including topics related to water management and emissions of harmful substances into the air.

The conference was designed to present research results not only in the field of membrane separation processes but also in new materials, waste management (liquid and gaseous), remediation of environmental burdens, including decontamination technologies (mechanical, physical, chemical, biochemical, biotechnological and combined membrane methods) applied in innovative technologies for the environment.

The conference was attended by 94 participants and 24 short lectures, 4 plenary lectures and 16 posters were presented.

Workshop MEMPROPOMembrane Processes in the food industry has been organised by CZEMP since 2015. The workshop is mainly about new knowledge in the application of membrane processes in whey processing and the development of new food products. It was an output of the KUSMEM project implemented in 2015 – 2018. This year, the workshop took place on the 14th of October 2021 at the Tomas Bata University in Zlín (UTB Zlín). It was organised with the support of UTB Zlín and in cooperation with the Czech Food Technology Platform. The workshop was focused on the recapitulation of the results of the KUSMEM project and on the results of the use of membrane technologies for food technology. The programme was filled with lectures by experts from the members´ entities (MemBrain s.r.o., UTB Zlín, VŠCHT Praha, VÚT Praha).
