Clusters in Policies: From National and Regional Agendas to Industrial Strategies

The European Cluster Collaboration Platform, on behalf of the European Commission, hosted the EU Clusters Talk “Clusters in Policies: From National and Regional Agendas to Industrial Strategies” on 10 September, from 8:30 – 9:45 CET.
EU Member States implement cluster policies not only to foster innovation and competitiveness but also to align with broader regional development and industrial policy goals. These strategies are increasingly integrated into national and regional policy frameworks to address place-based priorities, industrial transformation, and sustainable growth. While over half of the EU27 have more than a decade of experience in cluster-specific policies, their approaches differ significantly depending on governance structures, policy objectives, and regional contexts. This complexity offers valuable insights into how clusters contribute to cohesive and future-oriented territorial and sectoral strategies.
To explore these dynamics, the European Cluster Collaboration Platform, on behalf of the European Commission, hosted the EU Clusters Talk “Clusters in Policies: From National and Regional Agendas to Industrial Strategies” on 10 September, from 8:30 – 9:45 CET. The session showcased how different Member States integrate cluster support into their regional and industrial policy frameworks, discussed successful approaches, and reflected on what is needed to strengthen coherence and impact in the evolving policy landscape.
- Robert Wenzel, Head of Department – Research and Development Infrastructure Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, participated on behalf of the Czech Republic.
