3D Scanner – Leica RTC360
The exhibited item is a 3D scanner, a device used for digitising spaces and objects. It works similarly to a camera that captures an image but, in addition, records the distance (depth) of each point, creating a three-dimensional model of the environment in all directions within a single scan.
ŠKODA JS, a member of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic (SPČR), will present the 3D scanner in the Technology Village, part of the Cluster Day in the Pilsen Region, which will take place at TechTower on 22 October 2025.
Leica RTC360
The Leica RTC360 is a high-speed 3D laser scanner designed for precise spatial data acquisition. It can capture up to 2,000,000 points per second and take HDR panoramic images with a resolution of 432 MPx.
With dimensions of 120 × 240 × 230 mm and a weight of 5.35 kg, the device offers three resolution modes (3 mm @ 10 m in 1:51 min, 6 mm @ 10 m in 51 s, 12 mm @ 10 m in 26 s) and achieves 3D point accuracy of 1.9 mm at 10 m, 2.9 mm at 20 m, and 5.3 mm at 40 m, with an angular accuracy of 18″ and distance accuracy of 1.0 mm + 10 ppm.
Using Double Pulse technology, each point is measured twice, which eliminates noise and improves the data quality on challenging surfaces with low or high reflectivity (e.g. stainless steel). The integrated VIS (Visual Inertial System), which combines five cameras and an IMU unit, enables automatic pre-registration and real-time scan alignment directly in the field.

Membership in SP ČR and Collaboration with the Klastr MECHATRONIKA
ŠKODA JS is a member of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic (SPČR), which collaborates closely with the Klastr MECHATORONIKA in Pilsen. The cluster provides significant added value, particularly in innovation, technological development, and cross-sector cooperation.
Active involvement within SPČR enables the company to share know-how, network with experts from both academia and industry, and use shared platforms for the development and presentation of advanced technologies.
In preparing their 3D scanner exhibit—used for scanning spaces and equipment in nuclear power plants—the MECHATRONIKA Cluster provided expert consultation and facilitated connections with technological partners and research institutions.
Thanks to this collaboration, the company was able to develop scanning applications further and improve data utilisation, for example, in comparing the actual condition of equipment with technical documentation.
